Major General Sławomir DRUMOWICZ
MG Drumowicz was born November 23, 1968. He graduated from the Mechanized Infantry Military Academy in Wroclaw (1992), and the National Defense Academy in Warsaw (2001). He completed postgraduate studies at the Silesian University in Katowice (2005), as well as the postgraduate Defence Policy Studies in the War Studies University in Warsaw, where he also received the PhD degree (2018). Additionally, he completed many specialised military courses including Program on Terrorism & Security Studies at George C. Marshall Center in Germany (2007).
His first position as a second lieutenant was the Special Group Deputy Leader in the 62nd Special Company of the Silesian Military District. Since March 1995, his military career was connected with the 1st Special Commando Regiment in Lubliniec, where he consecutively took over the following positions: Sabotage– Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Special Company Commander, and Deputy Commandant of the Non-Commissioned Officers and Special Operations Specialists School. In 1995, he was promoted to the rank of a first lieutenant.
In 1999, he started military studies at the National Defense Academy being promoted to the rank of a Captain. After finishing these studies in 2001, he returned to the 1st Special Commando Regiment where he was appointed Special Operations Battalion Deputy Commander, subsequently, as the Chief of the Regiment Reconnaissance Section (S2) being promoted to the rank of a Major in 2003. In 2005, he assumed command of Combat Task Group being promoted to the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006. His following assignments were: the Regiment Chief of Training (2007-2010) and Regiment Deputy Commander (2010-2011). After the 1st Special Commando Regiment transition to the Commando Unit (Jednostka Wojskowa Komandosów - JWK), in November 2011, he became the Unit Deputy Commander and over some months in 2012, he held duties of acting Commando Unit Commander.
In December 2012, he was appointed the Chief of Intelligence (J-2) in the Special Operations Forces Command (POLSOFCOM) in Cracow and promoted to Colonel. Since January 2014, his next position was the Chief of Combat Support Division – Deputy Chief of Staff. In October 2014, he assumed command of the Special Forces Unit AGAT in Gliwice.
By the President of the Republic of Poland on the 100th Anniversary of Poland’s Independence Celebration Eve he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. On August 15, 2021, he was nominated as a Major General.
His operational and combat tours include the following deployments abroad: 1993-1995 as an infantry platoon commander in UN-led UNPROFOR / UNCRO mission in former Yugoslavia, and 2007-2008 in the Iraqi Freedom mission where he commanded a Special Forces Detachment in Multinational Division Central-South (MND CS).
